The sound quality of EarSet 2 Bluetooth was of a very high standard with its loudspeaker system designed to high-fidelity standards. Specially designed air vents and a ‘bass port’ ensured excellent voice reproduction. EarSet 2 was also fitted with two microphones with special filters, in order to help reduce or cancel wind noise and other extraneous noises which distorted both outgoing and incoming signals. To make the conversation appear realistic and natural, Bang & Olufsen engineers even paid attention to the sound during pauses in the conversation. Where these often appeared as blank dropouts on other systems, EarSet 2 deliberately preserved parts of the transmission sound.
Very light in use (weighing just 22 grams) the phone functioned with Bang & Olufsen’s Bluetooth-enabled Serene mobile phone as well as other Bluetooth phones.
Control of EarSet 2 was carried out via the microphone arm: folding it out and EarSet 2 was immediately turned on; folding it in, and EarSet 2 turned off. The practical and protective carrying case also doubled as a functional and elegant charger for the earpiece.
In designing the product Bang & Olufsen engineers aimed to achieve proper ‘vocal weight’ and excellent tonal characteristics in the voice of the person to whom being listened. The advanced audio processor in the EarSet 2 therefore aimed for the truest possible tonal voice characteristics.
