The BeoVision MX8000 television was the 30th and last member of the excellent MX-family of colour televisions.  From its first member - the Beovision M20 - to its last, emphasis had always been placed on the range’s modern looks, its choice of colour finishes and the facilities which were offered.  The MX range proved to be very popular over its eighteen years of production with many examples having been purchased. They were - and many still are - in use in all the four corners of the planet and will go down in the annals of Bang & Olufsen’s history as one of the more successful ranges of products.

Little different from most of its predecessors, the MX8000 delivered sound quality equalling that of many hi-fi systems. It was introduced as a replacement for the BeoVision MX7000 and MX6000.

Offering MasterLink (either as Master or Slave), RF Modulator (when used as Beolink® Master), Set-Top Box Controller (with full on-screen graphics) and Dolby Digital Surround Sound (including DTS) there was also a camcorder connection made available beneath its screen.

Fitted once more with active loudspeakers (as with the BeoVision MX7000) sound was an impressive 40 watts from each of its two channels. The Dolby® Digital surround sound module allowed for the TV to be used as centre channel in a surround sound setup.

VisionClear was fitted as standard and an anti-reflection coated contrast screen, mounted in front of the picture tube, was available as an optional extra.

The set could be connected to the DVD1 - Bang & Olufsen’s free-standing DVD player - and Beocord V8000 video tape recorder when operation of all the products were controlled by the Beo4 remote control terminal.
