Diamonds are forever

The 2013 versions of the 4.0-litre, DOHC, twin-turbo V-8 S6 and S7 automobiles are the latest in the Audi range to adopt new looks. Styling enhancements include a large single-frame grille, below which is an aero-detailed fascia, unique tailpipes and other exterior enhancements including of course, company badges.

Interiors are in black with genuine and aluminum-look trim pieces, power sports seats stitched in a diamond pattern, a luxury leather-wrapped steering wheel and a unique instrument cluster and metal-trimmed pedals. The roomy rear seat is configured for two and more passengers, as is the spacious trunk on the sedan. The under-hatch area in the S7 has 720 litres of cargo space.

High-end Bose or Bang & Olufsen audio will be additional extras as will Google Earth navigation.

Fuel economy is an average of 9.6 L/100 km on the Euro test cycle, and is some 25 per cent better than with the previous V-10.

The Audi S6 is a high-performance version of the company’s A6 model; the S7 version was shown off to the public for the first time  at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. The Audi S7 is offered only with the quattro four-wheel drive system. Because of the 7-speed S Tronic gearbox, the maximum torque has been limited to 550 N·m. The Audi S7 can move from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
