Dotty ’bout design…
Wednesday, 28th March, 2012The Red Dot Award is an international product design prize awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Wesfalen in Essen, Germany, for products achieving the status of excellent design and innovation: “1.800 manufacturers and designers from 58 countries were hunting for the acknowledged red dot – the quality seal for aesthetic forms and lasting trends”. The Red Dot Award is recognised by its stylised red ‘dot’, and has been used since 1995, although the design prize has been awarded each year since 1955.
For 2012 the winner of the Red Dot prize is Bang & Olufsen’s BeoLit 12 AirPlay: “We appreciate the recognition from Red Dot” stated Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, Vice President B&O PLAY. “Our engineers have worked diligently with Beolit 12’s designer to create a thoughtful product which delivers excellent-quality audio, a clean and simple user experience and aesthetic design that all blends together… we are happy that our hard work has been noticed by Red Dot, just as the international media has recognised Beolit 12’s quality design and performance through many positive product reviews.”
