Off at a Tangent
Wednesday, 29th December, 2010Tangent, the award-winning audio manufacturer from Denmark, has paired with Jacob Jensen Design to create a radio and iPhone/iPod player which combines the minimalistic design of Jacob Jensen Design with Tangents’ audio know-how. The result is a unique and sculptural combination of form and function in true Jacob Jensen Design style.
The new Tangent Fjord is released in two versions: an FM version and a DAB+/FM version. Both have a built-in CD-player as well as iPod/iPhone dock, and have minimal power consumption in standby. During operation, power consumption is reduced by the built-in reaction and proximity sensor. The sensor shuts down the display and operation panel when these functions are not in use. They are ‘awakened’ as soon as the user approaches the unit.

For more than 50 years, Jacob Jensen Design has been known for ultramodern and minimalistic design, changing perceptions of how a music system can look. Jensen worked for Bang & Olufsen for many years and several of Jacob Jensen’s timeless designs have achieved the status of international classics; examples of which are on permanent display at New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
