  • US requires radio transmitters on some ships; first US radio law
  • Krazy Kat appears in a comic strip. The bricks start flying
  • Victor Herbert’s operetta ‘Naughty Marietta’
  • Igor Stravinsky composes his Firebird Suite
  • Market research begins, targeting audiences
  • Radio hobby craze; Quaker Oats boxes used to build crystal-cats’ whisker sets
  • DeForest’s radio carries Enrico Caruso’s voice from New York’s Met which could be heard at sea
  • Neon tube development will aid mechanical television
  • DW Griffith films his 17-minute short film ‘In Old California’ in Hollywood, released on 10 March 1910
